Type "black" into the Translate box, click the Translate button. Then, click on the little speaker beside the Spanish word for black, and you can actually hear the pronunciation. Best of luck.

You are watching: How do you pronounce black in spanish

Hey! Amigos! Could we be missing something here? She says she is fluent in English but thinks the plural of kitten and puppy are kitten"s (sic) and puppy"s (sic).

Dear Ms. Brezy:

Are you saying you want an answer other than "negro" as the translation for "black"? In Spanish it is pronounced differently than in English (more like "nay-grow") and is correct. To say "black" in Spanish is "negro".

And it is not derogatory in any way, shape or form. It is quite likely where the whiteman got the term for those of the darker skin, but is not referring to it.

If you could tell us what about the translation doesn"t work for you, I bet we will surprise you with information beyond your wildest dreams!

Sincerely...

P.S. consider revising your profile: it"s "kittens and puppies".

Just to reiterate how much easier this would have been on you to look it up in the dictionary on here rather than post a question:

"Ask a new question" = 1 mouse click

Typing: "How do I say black in spansh?" = 29 presses on the keyboard

Typing: "I want to know." = 15 presses on the keyboard

Submitting your question = 1 mouse click

.......

If you looked it up in the translate box, like I mentioned, it would have been 5 keyboard presses and one mouse click, as opposed to 45 keyboard presses and 2 mouse clicks AND if you did it yourself, your result would have instantly appeared.

and it would have taken you a lot less typing, and time if you would have just simply answered the question! why waste your time? - jrk852003, MAY 23, 2010

You could say please, can somebody tell me how to say black in Spanish. You seem very demanding, I"m not sure that I"d tell you your house is on fire, never mind how to say black.

I don"t like the Translate box

I"m sorry that you don"t like the translation box, but it"s a very useful dictionary and you"ll certainly have to get used to using one if you plan to study Spanish.

Many times the members of the SpanisDict community will be nice enough on the forum to translate a simple word for you, but many times we will simply send you to the dictionary because that"s the best way to learn.

Good luck with your Spanish

I thought that hearing the pronunciation was an extremely easy way to answer "how do I say" but obviously that was wrong.

No, no, no! Jack, you may have been right on! I just thought she may be from somewhere that frowns upon the English word (not necessarily Spanish) negro and has been taught to avoid it. - LateToDinner, MAY 22, 2010

I don"t like that I did it and it did not work

What do you mean "it did not work"? At the very top of this page, there is a box that says "Enter a Spanish or English word". Type your word in there and click the Translate button. I just did it, it works. - Jack-OBrien, MAY 22, 2010
